Our Chiropractic Techniques
Chiropractic Care encompasses a large variety of techniques all with the same goal of keeping you well adjusted so that your nervous system and your body can function at peak efficiency free of biomechanical interference.
At Damrow Chiropractic Office, S.C. we utilize the following techniques:

Thompson Technique
Thompson Technique utilizes a segmental drop table when adjustments are administered. In this technique, the body is evaluated for specific alignment problems using leg length differences and palpation findings. The section of the table where the adjustment is being given “drops”, absorbing the force onto the body and minimizing discomfort.

Nimmo Receptor Tonus Technique
Nimmo technique was developed by Dr. Ray Nimmo of Texas. It is a soft tissue technique which greatly affects the adjustments given. Manual pressure is applied to involved muscles and ligaments, or soft tissue, which releases “trigger points”. Trigger points are accumulations of lactic acid and other normal waste products of a muscle contraction. Almost all patients at Damrow Chiropractic Office receive some form of this technique in the course of their treatment.

Diversified Technique
This technique delivers adjustments to specific spinal segments that are subluxated, or fixated and not functioning properly. This is a familiar technique to many chiropractic patients for low back adjustments while you lay on your side, or cervical and thoracic adjustments while lying on your back. You often will hear an audible ‘pop’ when this adjustment is given. Some patients do not wish to hear this sensation when being adjusted, and in those cases this technique is avoided.

Graston Technique
This soft tissue technique uses metal instruments that will “break up” soft tissue damage to restore more motion in that affected area of the body, along with instructed stretches to be done at home. This technique works well for both chronic and acute injuries and/or pain.

Active Release Technique
This deep soft tissue technique uses manual pressure, by the doctor, to the affected muscle and the patient moving the area as instructed by the doctor. This helps to alleviate trigger points and tight muscles.

Spinal Decompression
This therapy is done in conjunction with regular chiropractic adjustments to help alleviate compressed spinal nerves that may be causing pain to radiate into the arms or legs. Spinal Decompression on the Triton DTS table is gentle decompressive therapy set to your tolerance. Slightly bulging discs can improve with this type of therapy. Treatment takes an additional 15-30 minutes beyond your normal treatment time for an adjustment.

Activator Technique
Invented over 40 years ago, the activator is a hand held adjusting tool that offers high speed, low force adjustments. It can be used on both the spine and extremities and is preferred by those who don’t particularly like the “popping” sound.

Nutrition
Chiropractors have always had and extensive background in nutrition through their schooling, but a new Wisconsin law requires all chiropractors who want to feature nutrition in their practices to complete a four part certification course. Both Dr. Damrow and Dr. Byrnes-Pierce have completed this certification and use their background to help guide you to make the best choices with nutrition and supplementation and the many advantages to your health. They recommend supplements from companies that have the highest quality in the industry, who are CGMP certified, the new standard in highest quality supplement manufacturing.
